Desi Nikolova B.A. (Hons.), J.D.
Desi Nikolova graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto in 2007, earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2010, she obtained her J.D. degree from Queen's University, Faculty of Law, where she concentrated her legal studies in Criminal and Family law.
After completing law school, Desi articled with the renowned criminal defence lawyer, Alan Gold, where she worked on numerous high-profile cases, at all levels of courts in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2012, Desi Nikolova has practised exclusively in family and criminal litigation. She has represented clients across the full range of matters — from amicable negotiated resolutions to highly contested, heavily litigated disputes involving parenting conflicts, domestic violence allegations, Children's Aid Society involvement, complex financial issues, and urgent court proceedings.
In her Family law practice, Desi has extensive experience handling a full range of cases, from high-conflict and heavily litigated matters to collaborative and amicable ones. Desi has been fortunate to have been mentored by Nicholas Bala, a renowned Family law academic. Further, she has completed a placement with the Catholic Children’s Aid Society in Toronto, enriching her overall skillset and perspective in the area of Family Law. Her educational, professional, and personal experience throughout the years reflect a strong dedication to Family law. She handles each and every case, regardless of how big or small, with the best of precision, full commitment and assertiveness.
Desi is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Family Lawyers' Association, JusticeNet, and the Criminal Lawyers' Association. She is also a Notary Public for Ontario.
Desi is fully bilingual, offering services in English and Bulgarian.
